Pilgrim Dolls

This is a Pilgrim couple I made using a Sweet Meadows Farms pattern. They are so cute in person. I made them for my youngest daughter and her husband as one of their Christmas gifts. They enjoy receiving the dolls, I make them for holidays and have made them a Santa, an Elf, a Raggedy Ann and Andy Valentine set etc.,.It took quite a while to get them made (I am almost finished with a set for myself). I got them sewn but then we went to Florida on business and to see family so I had to put them on hold. We got home and I had to get ready for Thanksgiving, my daughter and her husband were coming from Florida to visit for Thanksgiving. Then the mad rush for Christmas shopping and decorating.Then I need to make myself a fancy jacket to wear to or Sunday School Christmas party which is tonight. I still have to hemn the jacket .I just finished them yesterday morning got them wrapped and in the box with the rest of their gifts and packaged up everyone else's gifts and cards and of to mail them. WHEW!!! I hope you like them.

HEADLESS HORSEMAN DOLL

BEWARE! 

This is going to be one long post! Here is what I have been working on for the past few months. Not only did I make one, I had to make three. It was very labor intensive but very rewarding in the end result. I always loved the story of Sleepy Hollow so when I had the chance to make this creation I was thrilled. I hope you enjoy the photos.

First was the cutting of the pattern pieces. I did alter my pattern which did not have ears on the horse soooo, I made some. I also changed the shape of the horse legs in front so he would stand.

I cut, sewed,stuffed pewwww. Then came the fun part. Painting, gluing, adding hair, sewing clothes, distressing. I thought I would NEVER finish.

Well I finally did, and here is the finished product.

Scarecrow Doll

Recipe:
Doll Pattern- Sweet Meadows Farm
Muslin fabric
Various fabrics for clothes
Rib knit for socks and cuffs of gloves
Acrylic paints and paint brushes
Poly fiber fill
Raffia
Cotton twine
Coffee for dying fabric
Paste shoe polish for distressing
Cinnamon powder for distressing (smells good too!).
Sewing machin

I could not find child size cotton garden gloves so...... I used my Silhouette machine and a file for a garden glove and made gloves/hands.

I hope I haven't forgotten anything. I really love my scarecrow and his chicken. There is supposed to be a crow on his hat but I thought he was cute like he is. I may still make the crow and add it. It so I will post an update.

I hope you like him as much as I do.

I am working on some more amazing dolls (found some great patterns) that I can't wait to share with you over the next few months when I am finished with them. They are for Halloween and 

Thanksgiving.

I haven't named this doll yet although I am thinking of Candy because her hair looks like cotton candy.

Recipe: I made my doll from the Oh Sew Dollin doll pattern Sugar and Dumplin. I painted her face and shoes and socks. I made her dress, bow, and  bloomers with cotton blend fabrics. Her hair is yarn. There is one button on her collar. 
      I love these darling dolls and have made dolls from her various patterns. I love making them for holidays.

Darling Little Witch Dolls

Since Halloween is here, I thought I would share these sweet little witch dolls I've made.  They are SO fun to decorate my house with, and add just that perfect little "witching" touch.  They go well with other Harvest decorations.  I'd love to hear your thoughts.
