We took a little day trip yesterday to Cataloochee to see the elk. We had such a nice day, the weather was beautiful! When the elk came out we sure got a show! The fields were empty except for 3 elk a male and 2 female. The male would cry out (such a pretty sound) and then you would hear another elk in the distance calling back. Then LOTS of elk started coming out of the forest!!! It was something to see. The gorgeous male elk was following one female everywhere she went. Here is a video of them as the passed by us. Our grandson Zachary took the video.
We had such a wonderful day! We went into some of the old buildings,we saw wild turkey and took a little walk on Booger-man Trail, saw the rushing water in the river oh and I saw a chipmunk but he was so fast I couldn't get a photo of him.

Sounds like a fun day, Pam! Love the elk video. Your grandson's a good photographer given the circumstances. I love watching wildlife up close. We see turkeys on a regular basis out at our Baby Creek property. Yesterday we had a nasty wind storm that took out the electric for a bit. Had the twins but they didn;t seem to notice too much. Last night it frosted again. We went from summer to winter very quickly!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome video!! The elk are so beautiful!! I was in Estes Park, Colorado, just outside Rocky Mountain National Park last fall and the elk were all over the town!! It was incredible to see them everywhere!! I'm glad you had a wonderful time!! Have a great day!! Big hugs :)
