I have been working on some projects and one is this beach album. Actually I am making four of them but finished the first to send to my childhood friend Sue for her birthday. I made her a necklace as well but I will post that probably tomorrow. She loved my Mom and Dad and when she received the call about Dad, her husband drove her all the way down to Florida from Ohio. It meant so much to me! My sister and I took her to Cocoa Beach (the beach we grew up with) She is afraid of the water and wasn't going to get near it, but with some coaxing from us she did and loved it (and was so proud of herself)! I made the album for her to put some of the photos that we took.
This is the front of the album. It is an album from the Silhouette store. I love how the edge looks like the waves! I added dots to look like sparkling wet sand on the edge and popped up the umbrella.
This is the first two pages. I cut the scallop shell with a die set I have and adhered it just on the bottom edges so a photo could be tucked inside.
Here are pages 3 and 4.
I added a card for her to write a special memory. The wave layers have a spot in-between them to tuck a photo in.
This is pages 5 and 6.
Another pocket for a photo.
And of course there had to be a mermaid! Isn't she cute! She is from a stamp and die set I have.
Here are pages 7 and 8. I believe they are my favorite!
I love the colors and papers!
You can pull the insert out of the pocket and add photos to both sides.
And this is the back of the album. I have never made an album before but tried to be creative. I really just made it up as I went. I do want to make some other albums and have one planned to make for my grand-daughter Ruby.
I hope you enjoyed seeing my album! Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!
Hugs Pam
Pam, I am so sorry for your loss. I have lost both of my parents and I still miss them. I am thrilled to see your gorgeous beach album. What a wonderful project and I know it took you quite a bit of time. It sure was worth all the work. Hang in there and I hope you continue to play with your craft. It really does help. Big hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Kitty! Your post today touched me and I know Smita appreciated your kind words as much as I do!
DeleteI've missed seeing your posts, Pam! So sorry you are having a rough time with the loss of your father. I will pray for you whenever you come to mind.

Thank you so very much dear sweet Lisa! Yes they are celebrating in heaven for sure!
DeleteThank you for you sweet comments about my little beach album! Yes it was the first one ever.
It was fun doing the album but did take some time. I would pick a paper then change my mind. I pretty much just made it as I went along. I love to watch My Sisters Scrapper videos. Her albums are so beautiful and inspiring.
It's good to see you posting again, and I hope that time is beginning to ease the loss just a tiny bit. This is such a lovely way to show your appreciation to your friend for her support at a time when you really needed her. There's so much color, texture, and detail in this album. It is a perfect way to remind her of the time you spent together, and enjoying the water at Cocoa Beach. You did a super job of adding just the right embellishments & shapes to fit this beach album. TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary. I think my friend will really like the album. I do love the colors and texture. It was fun creating as I went along!
DeleteWhat a fabulous album!! The edges definitely do look like waves which is perfect for the beach theme of the album! And your friend will appreciate the effort you put into it! Thanks for playing with Jo's Scrap Shack.
ReplyDeleteThank you Heather, I love the wave edges!
DeletePam sweetie... so very sorry that you just had to endure your father's birthday with him being in heaven. It's always hard getting through the "firsts". On a good note, you made it through and the next birthday to come will be a little bit easier. Always remember what I told you not too long ago... your father would NOT want you to be so down over his passing. He would want you to celebrate his life and remember him in all the great memories you shared together.. and he would want you to continue living your life and doing the things you love... because he is still with you and although you cannot see/feel him right now... I promise you he is there! Make him proud and continue making pretty things for him to see!!
ReplyDeleteYour beach album is beautiful! Your childhood friend is going to love it! You helped her overcome her fear of the water, that is a HUGE milestone that you two shared together! So I hope she puts a photo of the two of you on that page that says, "SHELL YES"! :)
On a more personal note, I'm glad to see you are still making time to get creative! you NEED that honey!
Have a great day!
Hugs,
Jo
My darling Jo, You have helped me more than you know and I will never forget you for it! My sister as well. Thank you so very much for all of your kindness and compassion during this difficult time. You are a true friend.
DeleteThe album was a challenge but fun to make. I am making three more of the same album, one for my sister, one for my youngest daughter (she and my grand-baby and I spent a day at the beach) and one for me. My friend almost drowned when we were teens so she has always been afraid of the water. She was so proud that she actually waded her feet at the edge of the water when we were at the beach.
Pam, this is an amazing album! Love the pages, especially the Shell Yes! sentiment. So cute. I know how difficult it is to lose your parents but your Mom is taking very good care of him now. This would be a great idea for making a fun beach book for the twins. So glad to see you creating again! Hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteAwwww Donna you are so sweet! Thank you so much for your kindness and friendship! I keep telling myself Mom and Dad are together and it does help some.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Pam you really did a fabulous job on the ablum. Each and every page is perfection. I know Sue will enjoy adding pics of the 2 of you. I'm so happy that you are back to crafting and find some peace in your daily life. You dad is back in the arms of his life partner. Love you my friend and my prayers are always with you.
