Health Update

Hello everyone. Well I made it through my first major checkup. First I went for a CT scan. Then I had to wait the weekend out until my appointments. Well, I did a dumb thing! I went on Youtube and looked at videos of women who had ovarian cancer. The very first two that I watched seemed okay, they told there story all seemed well. I just had to look at the comments, bad thing to do! Both women had passed away a year after their surgeries. Well that threw me into a depression! I didn't read any more, and I wont read any more. The only times I was really depressed during this whole thing was when I was diagnosed with cancer and when my hair fell out because of the chemo. I got so mad that I chopped it all off! It is now growing back and I can even go out in public without a head covering now.
So, I went to see my surgeon Monday and got a glowing report! He even came out to the waiting area and told Dean that I was doing great and that I don't need to see him for 6 months. The following day I went to see my Oncologist. The results of the CT scan showed no trace of cancer (thank God) but he thought there was another blood clot. He was going to have a specialist look at the results so I had to wait until the next day. When Amber the nurse practitioner called she said all is good. No blood clot, It is scaring from the surgery and is retaing fluid which will go away in time. So........ first checkup is great!
Hugs Pam

  1. Woot, woot! So happy to read this good news, Pam! Other people's experiences mean nothing so I agree with your decision not to read comments on YT that bring you down. May your health continue to improve each day as you return to vibrant health. And please keep that positive attitude going as it makes a difference. Prayers do work and I will continue praying for you. I bet your sweet kitties are keeping you amused with their antics as well!

  2. Congratulations Pam! That's great news. I'm sure it's really difficult not to get down from reading about cancer. I would guess that it would depress even someone who didn't have it. Hang in there. Trust in God's plan and let Him hold you in His hands. I'll continue to keep you in my prayer list but it sounds like you've got a good start! Enjoy every day! Hugs!

  3. Hello Pam, I am trying to respond to some of the comments left on my New Year's post (very slow am I!) and read about your journey through chemo and CT scans. I am so very thankful you got a good report. Don't watch youtubes or read articles!!! Just talk to your health care people and be a strong advocate in your own care. I will add your name to those I pray for, for healing and God's special care. Keep on getting well, and I'm glad you have folks to support you during this time. Don't worry about the hair loss! There's lots of lovely wigs if you need one, and as you say, the hair grows back! Big gentle hugs. Many prayers. (I've lost your email addy so leaving my words as a comment). MH

  4. So glad you got such great news! Please don't look on the internet. Everyone's experience in life is different. I have a friend whose mother had ovarian cancer years ago, and she's not had any more trouble with it. Hope you're feeling lots better and enjoying life. The sun came out today, and it was awesome!!! Thank you for your sweet comments on my cards! Have a great week!
